The installation of the 2020-2022 Solar is primarily dedicated to the production of Hydrogen to be used as a renewable fuel for the use in HGV’s on the site greatly reducing the emissions to air as well as the carbon footprint. When the solar array is not needed to generate the hydrogen, then it will be either stored in Lithium-Ion power batteries or be exported to the national grid.
The solar array is unique from most as utilises DC-DC converters as opposed to standard DC-AC inverters which allows the electricity to directly power the hydrogen generation plant or travel into battery power storage facilities. Utilising this type of technology greatly reduces the electrical losses in the system.
