- Chelveston’s Grid-Connected solar array was installed between 2014 and 2015 with the intention of supplying the National Grid, alongside the existing Wind Turbines.
- In Total, 250,000 individual panels were installed, mounted on a unique frame designed to meet Eurocode structural standards. Whilst the UK may not be the sunniest place, the panels at Chelveston still generate up to 60,000 MWh of electricity per year. The framework was all supplied by UK manufacturers. Electrical Design and Installation was undertaken by Wykes Engineering.
- The panels are south facing and are mounted at an angle to ensure they have as much exposure to the sun’s energy as possible.
